In a surprising turn of events, Damian Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, despite his strong desire to join the Miami Heat.
Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, recently commented on the Heat’s pursuit of the trade, acknowledging their efforts.
“They did everything they could to acquire Dame. It takes two to get a deal done. I appreciate all that Pat, Andy, and Micky did to try and make this happen,” Goodwin said, per Anthony Chiang.
While the Heat and the Portland Trail Blazers had discussions following Lillard’s trade request in early July, communication between the two sides had been limited.
The Blazers ultimately chose to accept the trade offer from the Bucks, despite the Heat’s initial interest.
NBA insider Marc J. Spears revealed that, with talks in Miami were going nowhere, Lillard’s agent had approached both the Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets about a potential deal.
While the Toronto Raptors were also contenders to acquire Lillard, it was the Bucks who ultimately secured the star player’s services.
