The Washington Wizards will have a need at the point guard position once this season comes to an end, and a familiar face might be able to provide some help.
The Wizards traded away guards Spencer Dinwiddie and Aaron Holiday at the trade deadline and for the rest of this season, they are left with Ish Smith, Raul Neto and Tomas Satoransky to run the point.
Enter John Wall, who was rumored to be a target of the Los Angeles Lakers around the trade deadline in February.
Wall would reportedly welcome a return to the Wizards who drafted him No. 1 overall back in 2010.
It’s something that he recently discussed with people close to him and around the league, according to David Aldridge of The Athletic.
“That … is true,” one NBA source said Tuesday.
Per Aldridge:
Pulling off the deal might be tricky, however, as Wall is still with the Rockets, who haven’t yet shown any interest in a buyout agreement or trading him.
The Rockets have no plans for the 31-year-old five-time All-Star, as the average age of their roster is the fifth youngest in the NBA.
They are in a rebuilding phase focused on developing that young roster that features players like Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, KJ Martin and Josh Christopher.
While there isn’t a clear and obvious suitor for Wall right now, there’s always a surprise in store in the NBA, and the possible idea of Wall and Beal getting to play together again makes for a cool storyline.
