Villanova Men’s basketball team head coach Jay Wright is expected to call it quits after a historic collegiate stint.
Shams Charania of The Athletic noted on Tuesday that the legendary coach was ‘seriously contemplating’ the choice of retiring this offseason. ESPN’s Jeff Borzelo has detailed that Fordham Rams’ Kyle Neptune, who spent 10 years as an assistant and a video coordinator under Wright, will succeed the hall of fame coach.
The 60-year-old Wright started his fabled coaching career in Villanova way back in 2001, wherein he led the program to two national titles in 2016 and 2018 and four Final Four appearances. He tallied a coaching record of 520-197 record in 21 seasons staying on the Wildcats’ sidelines.
