Oklahoma City Thunder 7-footer Chet Holmgren is being careful with his body so that he doesn’t add the wrong weight.
(via All The Smoke):
Matt Barnes: “Recently you said you’ve been trying to add weight to your frame. What has that process been like? You’re still so young. You just turned 21 in May. What’s it been like just trying to add some muscle to your body?”
Holmgren: “It’s not just about being big. There’s so much into the game now. You gotta be able to move still and do so many different things. It’s not necessarily about gaining weight. It’s really just to work on my body.”
Stephen Jackson: “Getting stronger.”
Holmgren: “Stronger and more athletic, really. The weight kinda comes with it as you add some muscle and get older, you always add weight. But I don’t wanna add the wrong weight, and just get some big broad shoulders. And now, I’m moving slow. Can’t move. My knees hurt. So the focus has been just working on my body all around and how it plays into my game and how I play.”
