Celtics Legend Paul Pierce Details Gruesome Finger Injury After Surgery

Paul Pierce spoke about how he suffered a horrific finger injury and had to undergo surgery for it.

The 46-year-old won a championship with the Celtics in 2008 and retired from the league in 2017.

But he still likes to keep himself fit, as he was on Friday at the gym.

Pierce explained that he was at the gym and had a 45-pound plate on his back while trying to plank.

The weight plate fell onto his hand and he suffered a gruesome injury as a result.

“I was crushing it in the weight room and a plate fell on my hand,” Pierce said on Undisputed with his bandaged finger in a cast. “I was doing a plank with a 45 [pound plate], you know, nobody can do that really but true gorillas in the weight room.

“It slide off, smashed by hand, I had to have surgery. But I’m here bright and early Monday morning, ready… Finger smashed open, bone came out, I drove myself to the hospital, got the surgery, went home and drunk a cup of coffee. That’s it… and Ima go to the weight room again and get right back in action.”

Pierce posted about the news the day it happened, but many were confused as they didn’t know what had happened.

“I’m Good surgery went well looks worse then felt I appreciate the concern and love and to my haters I love yall too,” he said on X.

No doubt Pierce will attend one of Boston’s home games scars and all as the franchise play the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
