The Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 85-83 in the opening game of the 2021 NBA Summer League at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Second-year Celtics’ guard Payton Pritchard led all scorers with 23; Hawks’ rookie Jalen Johnson led Atlanta’s squad with 20.
The Celtics received great production from 2020 second-round pick Yam Madar (who played last year in the Israeli Premier League) and 2021 second-round pick Juhann Begarin (who played last year in Paris).
The Hawks’ 2021 second-round pick, Sharife Cooper, scored 11 points to go with six assists and six turnovers.
All 30 teams will compete in the Summer League; which is scheduled to run from August 8 to August 17.
The Hawks’ next game is on Tuesday (8/10) at 6PM EST and the Celtics’ next game is on Tuesday (8/10) at 7PM EST.
