The Milwaukee Bucks registered strong interest in Kelvin Sampson and Monty Williams during their head coach search, according to Marc Stein of Substack.
Stein adds that it was difficult to convince Sampson to make the switch due to his new contract with the University of Houston. The deal includes an assurance that his son will take over the role once Sampson retires.
Williams agreed to a six-year, $72 million deal with the Pistons.
The Bucks would eventually hire Adrian Griffin.
