Baylor keeps No. 1 spot, while Duke tumbles in Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll


The 2022 portion of the men’s college basketball season has already experienced plenty of fits and starts, resulting in a crazy week of upsets that produced considerable shuffling in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

Baylor, however, managed to stay above the fray and remains the unanimous No. 1 choice for another week. The Bears are off to a 3-0 start in the rugged Big 12 and is 15-0 overall as they look to defend last year’s national championship.

The rest of the top five looks considerably different. Gonzaga moves back up to No. 2 followed by UCLA. Auburn vaults five positions all the way to No. 4.

Purdue dropped a game to surging Wisconsin but slips only two spots to hang on at No. 5. Arizona and Southern California each move up a notch as Duke tumbles from second to No. 8 following a loss to Miami. Michigan State and Kansas round out the top 10.

LSU and Wisconsin make the biggest gains of the week. The Tigers jump from No. 21 to No. 12, while the Badgers pick up 10 positions to check in at No. 13. Texas matches Duke for the largest drop, losing six places to land at No. 22.

No. 24 Illinois rejoins the top 25. Colorado State falls out following a loss to San Diego State in Mountain West play.
