Melsele dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Giants B’s 20 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Giants B 39-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Melsele looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Giants B’s players. Jens Bouckaert (199-1991) nailed 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Mitchel Gorremans (191-1985) accounted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Melsele players scored in double figures. Guard Noah Meeusen (189-2005) came up with 23 points and forward Abel Baptista (195-1996) added 7 points and 6 assists respectively for Giants B in the defeat. Giants B’s coach Luc Smout gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.

Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian forward Dani Koljanin (202-1996, college: UALR) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds. Mathieu Coucke (197-2000) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Noah Gebbert (195-2001) answered with 23 points and forward Maxime Verspeeten (192-1994) added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Waregem. Five Kortrijk and four Waregem players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
