Top ranked Seawolves (17-5) recorded its fifth loss in Rostock on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Leverkusen (14-8) 96-93. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Seawolves. Leverkusen looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Quentin Goodin (193-97, college: Xavier) who scored 16 points and 7 assists. The other American import JJ Mann (198-91, college: Belmont, agency: GoEmpire Group) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Nijal Pearson (196-97, college: Texas St.) who recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leverkusen moved-up to fourth place. Seawolves at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost. Leverkusen are looking forward to face Gladiators (#7) in Trier in the next round. Seawolves will play at home against Falcons (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (0-22) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 114-65 loss to seventh ranked Lions (13-10) in Karlsruhe. It was a good game for Ferdinand Zylka (191-98) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Matthew Moyer contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Tyler Cheese (196-96, college: Akron) replied with 20 points for Ehingen/Urspringschule. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lions moved-up to sixth place. Ehingen/Urspringschule at the other side still closes the standings. Lions will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play at home against the league’s leader Science City Jena (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gladiators. Worth to mention a great performance of Johannes Joos who helped to win the game recording 27 points. The best for the losing side was Garai Zeeb with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Gladiators’ coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SparkassenStars have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. Loser Gladiators dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. SparkassenStars will meet Rasta Vechta (#14) on the road in the next round. Gladiators will play against Leverkusen (#4) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 24 Itzehoe was defeated by Nuernberg in a road game 89-71. Bremerhaven was beaten by Vechta at home 95-109.

Bochum – Trier 92-77

We should mention about the upset which took place in Bochum, where higher ranked Gladiators (12-10) lost to twelfth ranked SparkassenStars (11-12) in a road game 77-92 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gladiators. SparkassenStars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Johannes Joos (206-95) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and Spanish swingman Miguel Servera Rodriguez (198-92) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Garai Zeeb (187-97) with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Jonas Grof (201-96) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gladiators’ coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nuernberg – Itzehoe 89-71

There was no surprise in Nuernberg where 16th ranked Eagles (3-18) were defeated by fourth ranked Falcons (14-6) 89-71 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Josh Price (205-96, college: S.Indiana) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds and center Jonathan Maier (211-92) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons’ coach Vytautas Buzas used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American Christopher Hooper (198-91, college: SFC) with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Lucien Schmikale (194-97) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Falcons have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Eagles lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Falcons will meet league’s second-placed Seawolves in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Eagles will play against Schwenningen (#13) and hope to secure a win.

Rasta Vechta made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Joel-Sadu Aminu (193-97) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 4 steals and American forward Tajuan Agee (206-97, college: Iona) who added 18 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Rasta Vechta’s coach Vladimir Lucic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Kevin Yebo (207-96) with 25 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Armani Moore (193-94, college: Tennessee) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Rasta Vechta maintains fourteenth position with 8-13 record. Loser Eisbaeren Bremerhaven keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Kirchheim. Rasta Vechta will meet at home higher ranked SparkassenStars (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Ehingen/Urspringschule’s 28. They outrebounded Ehingen/Urspringschule 38-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. Lions players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Ehingen/Urspringschule’s players. It was a good game for Ferdinand Zylka (191-98) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American Matthew Moyer (203-97, college: GWU) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Lions players scored in double figures.
