American Forward Rob Howard (203-F-1997, agency: One Motive Sports) had an amazing evening in the last round for Oberwart, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage).
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (26 points, six rebounds) to his team’s victory, helping them to edge out Gmunden (#2, 23-5) 84-81. The game was between two of the league’s top four teams. Oberwart maintains the 4th position in Austrian BSL. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Oberwart will need more victories to improve their 16-12 record. In the team’s last game Howard had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. It’s his second year at Oberwart and it’s hard to imagine this team without him. Rob Howard averages this season 11.2ppg and 7.2rpg.
The second best player in last round’s games was young Montenegrin Milos Latkovic (196-SG-1993) of Kapfenberg. Latkovic had a very good evening with a double-double of 14 points and 16 assists. Of course he led Kapfenberg to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Furstenfeld (#10, 8-20) 101-71. Kapfenberg’s 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 13-15 record. Latkovic is a newcomer at Kapfenberg and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
Third on the list of top players last round was German guard Christian von Fintel (190-G-1990) of Wels (#3). von Fintel scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. Despite von Fintel’s great performance Wels lost 84-94 to #1 ranked Vienna. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Wels needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 17 victories and 11 lost games. von Fintel has a very solid season. In 27 games in Austria he scored 10.4ppg. He also has 4.3rpg and 3.0apg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
