The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Maroussi (16-8) in Athens on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourteenth ranked Amyntas (9-15) 88-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Maroussi. Amyntas shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Maroussi’s players. It was a good game for American-Argentinian forward Donovan Johnson (201-1992, college: KWC) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 rebounds. Athanasios Grekas (196-1996) contributed with 8 points and 9 assists for the winners. point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-1988) replied with 15 points and 5 assists for Maroussi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amyntas moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Agriniou. Maroussi at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. They share it with Psychikou. Amyntas is looking forward to face higher ranked Iraklis (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maroussi will play at home against Koroivos (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Kavalas managed to get a second victory, breaking the ten-game losing streak. This time they edged fifteenth-ranked FEA Filadelfeia 82-81. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Antwain Johnson (188-1997, college: Buffalo, agency: Green Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 assists and Marios Poulianitis who added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Vassilis Karahalios (200-1997) with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kavalas maintains sixteenth position with 2-21 record. Newly promoted FEA Filadelfeia keeps the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. Kavalas will play against higher ranked Papagou (#8) in Athens in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. FEA Filadelfeia will play at home against Agriniou (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Koroivos was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Papagou (14-10) played at the court of eighth ranked Koroivos (14-10). Koroivos defeated Papagou 92-76 on Saturday. The winners were led by Stefan Mitrovic who scored that evening 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 17 points and 5 assists by Tyler Peterson did not help to save the game for Papagou. Papagou’s coach Michalis Kouris rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Koroivos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Papagou. Koroivos will meet league’s leader Maroussi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Papagou will play against Kavalas (#16) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: Eleftheroupoli beat Agriniou on the road 81-66. AO Triton won against Aias Evosmou on its own court 72-67. Charilaos unfortunately lost to Iraklis in Thessaloniki 87-97. Panerythraikos managed to beat Megaridas at home 81-70. Ermis S. was defeated by Psychikou on the opponent’s court 85-69.
The most impressive performance of 24th round was 25 points and 6 assists by Zack Bryant of Ermis S..

Agriniou – Eleftheroupoli 66-81

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Eleftheroupoli (15-8) beat on the road 12th ranked Agriniou (9-15) 81-66 on Saturday. Eleftheroupoli looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-1987) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds and point guard Sokratis Naoumis (189-1997) supported him with 17 points. Four Eleftheroupoli players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds by forward Dimitris Tsourgianis (200-2001) did not help to save the game for Agriniou. Finnish guard Kalin Fisher (188-1996, college: Hampton) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Agriniou’s coach Stefanos Perkos rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eleftheroupoli maintains third position with 15-8 record behind leader Maroussi, which they share with AO Triton. Loser Agriniou keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Amyntas. Eleftheroupoli will meet at home league’s second-placed Psychikou in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Agriniou will play against FEA Filadelfeia (#15) and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game when 13th ranked Aias Evosmou (8-16) lost to fourth ranked AO Triton (15-8) in Athens 67-72 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. AO Triton looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by power forward Michalis Kamperidis (206-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian Nemanja Manojlovic (197-1993) supported him with 12 points and 6 assists.
