The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Greek Olympiacos (21-9) in Beograd on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Serbian Partizan (17-13) 90-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Olympiacos. Partizan made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward James Nunnally (201-1990, college: UCSB) scored 19 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and French center Mathias Lessort (206-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Azerbaijani Shaquielle McKissic (196-1990, college: Arizona St.) with 21 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Partizan moved-up to sixth place, which they share with M.Tel-Aviv. Defending Greek champion Olympiacos still keep top position with nine games lost. They share it with Real Madrid. Partizan is looking forward to face higher ranked Barca (#3) in Barcelona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olympiacos will play at home against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and are hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Berlin. Seventeenth ranked German ALBA Berlin (9-21) saved a 2-point victory at home edging higher ranked Turkish Efes (14-16) 95-93 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American-Croatian Jaleen Smith (190-1994, college: UNH, agency: BeoBasket) notched 25 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Luke Sikma supported him with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. ALBA Berlin’s coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 30 points by Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-1994, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Efes. Defending German champion maintains seventeenth position with 9-21 record. Efes at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Milano and Valencia. ALBA Berlin will play against higher ranked Baskonia (#8) in Vitoria in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Efes will play at home against Milano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 30: M.Tel-Aviv won against ASVEL on the opponent’s court 85-67. Panathinaikos unfortunately lost to Barca in a home game 74-88. Zalgiris recorded a loss to Fenerbahce on the road 79-87. Monaco defeated Valencia on its own court 90-79. Bayern was smashed by Milano in a road game 99-74. Virtus BO lost to Spanish defending champion Real Madrid at home 79-96. Milano managed to outperform Fenerbahce on the opponent’s court 82-75.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points and 9 rebounds by Johnathan Motley of Fenerbahce.

Crvena Zvezda – Baskonia 74-63

An interesting game took place in Beograd where higher ranked Spanish Baskonia (15-15) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (13-17) 74-63 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was guard Nemanja Nedovic (192-1991, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 20 points.
