Michael Holyfield
Experienced American Michael Holyfield (211-C-1992) put on an amazing game in the last round for H.Hevel Modi’in and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents National League Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 30-year old center had a double-double of 31 points and twenty one rebounds, while his team was edged out by E.Netanya (#2, 17-7) 88-85. H.Hevel Modi’in maintains the 13th position in Israeli National League. The season is in a full swing, so it’s only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. H.Hevel Modi’in have already lost 18 games and recorded just five victories. Holyfield turned to be H.Hevel Modi’in’s top player in his first season with the team. Sam Houston State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Holyfield leads league in rebounds with 14.6rpg. Holyfield is in league’s top in and averages solid 2.1bpg and 68.5% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young Canadian center Eddie Ekiyor (206-C-1997) of M.Ma’ale Adum.. Ekiyor impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as M.Ma’ale Adum. lost that game 88-94 to the lower-ranked E.Shomron (#11, 8-14). M.Ma’ale Adum. managed to keep the same 8th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Ekiyor is a newcomer at M.Ma’ale Adum. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.5ppg (#4). He also registered 10.5 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Kevin Capers (188-G-1993, agency: BIG) of M.Ramat Gan (#6). Capers got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for seven assists. He was a key player of M.Ramat Gan, leading his team to a 104-93 win against the lower-ranked Ramat Hash. (#9, 11-11). M.Ramat Gan needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 9 lost games. Capers has a great season in Israel. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 19.9ppg (8th best). He also has 2.1spg and FGP: 51.4%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
