Experienced American Jermaine Love (190-G-1989) had an amazing evening in the last round for N.Novgorod and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage).
The 33-year old guard had the game-high 28 points adding three rebounds and two assists for N.Novgorod in his team’s victory, helping them to beat UNICS (#2, 23-6) 78-68. N.Novgorod is placed at 4th position in VTB United League group A. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. N.Novgorod will need more victories to improve their 16-12 record. In the team’s last game Love had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be N.Novgorod’s top player in his first season with the team. Jermaine Love averages this season 14.0ppg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young American guard Marcos Knight (191-G-1989, agency: Slash Sports) of B second-ranked Samara. Knight impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Samara to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked BC Minsk (#6, 1-27) 90-56. This victory allowed Samara to move up to second position in group B. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 12-16 record. Knight is a newcomer at Samara and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.8ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 4.9rpg and 4.5apg.
The third best performed player last round was American Isaiah Reese (196-F/G-1996, agency: Slash Sports) of B top-ranked Parma-Pari. Reese showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, six rebounds and nine assists in the last round. He was a key player of Parma-Pari, leading his team to a 74-73 win against the lower-ranked Astana (#5, 5-21). The chances of Parma-Pari ranking at the top of group B, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Reese could help Parma-Pari to bring them higher in the standings. Reese has a very solid season. In 9 games in VTB United League he scored 15.3ppg. He also has 5.3rpg, 7.2apg and 2.6spg.
