American Guard Vante Hendrix (196-G) put on an amazing game in the last round for Illiabum, receiving a Hoops Agents Proliga Player of the Week award for round 2 (Second Stage).
The player had a double-double of 38 points and 17 rebounds, while his team in a lost game to Portimonense (#1, 2-0) 85-87. Illiabum maintains the 7th position in their group in Portuguese Proliga. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 2 games and recorded no victories. In the team’s last game Hendrix had a remarkable 78.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Illiabum’s top player in his first season with the team.
The second best player in last round’s games was American Marquavian Stephens (190-G) of Barreirense. Stephens had a very good evening with 53 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Barreirense lost that game 111-116 to Sampaense (1-1). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let’s wait for the next round. Stephens is a newcomer at Barreirense, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.6ppg (#2). He also recorded 3.8 assists per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Rob McCoy (201-F-1997) of league’s top team Portimonense. McCoy got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. He went also for ten rebounds . He was a key player of Portimonense, leading his team to a 87-85 win against Illiabum (#7, 0-2). Portimonense has a very good start of the Second Stage. But there were just 2 games played, so it’s too early to judge them at this stage. McCoy also has a very good start of the Second Stage with very strong stats. McCoy has a great season in Portugal. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 21.1ppg (7th best). He also has 2.4spg and FGP: 70.9%.
