Tony Hicks
28-year old guard Tony Hicks (186-G-1994, agency: Mansfield and Associates) put on an amazing game in the last round for Usti n/Labem and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 22.
He had the game-high 26 points adding five rebounds and eight assists for Usti n/Labem in his team’s victory, helping them to edge out Pardubice (#5, 13-9) 79-77. Usti n/Labem is placed at 4th position in Czech Republic league. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Usti n/Labem will need more victories to improve their 14-8 record. In the team’s last game Hicks had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Usti n/Labem’s top player in his first season with the team. University of Louisville graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hicks is in league’s top in points (9th best: 16.5ppg), assists (3rd best: 6.0apg) and averages solid 60.9% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was PJ Pipes (188-G-1999) of USK Praha. He is American guard in his first season at USK Praha. In the last game Pipes recorded impressive 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. It was enough for USK Praha to edge slightly higher-ranked Kolin (#7, 12-10) by 6 points 88-82. USK Praha’s 9th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 9-12 record. Pipes is a newcomer at USK Praha and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.8ppg (#1). He also recorded 3.6 assists per game.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Adam Ciz (192-PG-1991) of Kolin (#7). Ciz got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. Despite Ciz’s great performance Kolin lost 79-94 to the higher-ranked Brno (#1, 17-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Kolin needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 10 lost games. Ciz has a great season in Czech Republic. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in assists with 4.5apg (7th best).
