American Point guard Jaron Martin (178-PG-1995) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Borac BL, receiving a Hoops Agents ABA 2nd League Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, four rebounds and three assists) to his team’s victory, helping them to beat Zlatibor (#5, 6-3) 95-88. Borac BL is placed at 2nd position in ABA League. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Borac BL will need more victories to improve their 7-2 record. In the team’s last game Martin had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Borac BL’s top player in his first season with the team. Former University of California – Irvine star has very solid stats this year. Martin is in league’s top in points (6th best: 16.6ppg) and averages impressive 56.0% FGP and 53.2% from behind 3-point line.
The second best player in last round’s games was another Borac BL’s star – young Serbian Dusan Tanaskovic (208-C-2001, agency: BeoBasket). Tanaskovic had a very good evening with 27 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Borac BL cruised to a 95-88 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Zlatibor (#5, 6-3). This victory allowed Borac BL to move up to second position in the standings. His team’s 7-2 record is not bad at all. Tanaskovic is a newcomer at Borac BL, but is already one of team’s top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was Tibor Mirtic (202-SF-2003) of league’s top team Helios Suns. Mirtic scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was a key player of Helios Suns, leading his team to a 74-66 win against #4 ranked Sutjeska in a game of the week. Helios Suns have amazing season winning all 9 games without a single defeat. Mirtic turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Mirtic has a very solid season. In 8 games in ABA League he scored 13.8ppg. He also has 5.0rpg and FGP: 68.3%.
