Kostas Koufos

G League Ignite tabbed 31-year old former Greek-American international 7-0 center Kostas Koufos (college: Ohio State) for new season. Koufos played most recently at Olympiacos in Greek A1 league. In 8 Euroleague games he averaged 4.6ppg and 2.3rpg last season.
The previous (19-20) season he played at CSKA Moscow in Russian league where in 17 Euroleague games he had 3.7ppg and 2.8rpg. He also played 10 games in VTB United League where he recorded 8.4ppg and 5.2rpg. Koufos helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league.
In 2008 he was drafted by Utah Jazz (NBA) in first round (23rd overall). The former Ohio State standout is in his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He was also a member of Greek international program for some years. Koufos played for Greek Senior National Team between 2009 and 2016 and previously for U21 National Team back in 2007.
He represented Greece at the European Championships six years ago. But his stats at that event were not that impressive as he did not score anything.
Koufos has played previously professionally in other NBA team (Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies) and D-League (Utah F.).
Among many awards Koufos’ team won Gloria Cup in 2020. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Greeks Abroad 1st Team back in 2013.
