They outrebounded FEA Filadelfeia 52-34 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AO Triton made 7 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by FEA Filadelfeia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Aristotelis Zaraidonis (198-1998) who led his team to a victory with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Alexandros Proiskos (195-2000) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Lefteris Karalefteris (180-1998) replied with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for FEA Filadelfeia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted FEA Filadelfeia keeps the thirteenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Agriniou. FEA Filadelfeia will play next round against strong Panerythraikos trying to get back on the winning streak. AO Triton will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Papagou. It will be extra interesting game as Papagou is their local rival from Athens.
Leading Panerythraikos (8-4) recorded its fourth loss in New Eritrea. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Eleftheroupoli (7-5) 84-77. Worth to mention a great performance of center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-1987) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Dionysis Skoulidas who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Ilias Moraitis (190-2001) with 17 points and 4 assists. Panerythraikos’ coach Dimitris Houhoulis rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn’t help. Eleftheroupoli moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Panerythraikos at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Iraklis and Papagou. Eleftheroupoli will play against higher ranked Megaridas (#5) in Megara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panerythraikos will play against FEA Filadelfeia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game was also tough home defeat of 5th ranked Psychikou in a game in Athens versus Papagou (#7) 95-89. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The winners were led by Tyler Peterson who scored that evening 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 24 points and 6 assists by Ronaldo Segu did not help to save the game for Psychikou. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Papagou have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Iraklis and Panerythraikos. Loser Psychikou dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Papagou’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens AO Triton.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: Maroussi was beaten by Agriniou on the road 72-70. Aias Evosmou destroyed Charilaos on its own court 91-56. Amyntas unfortunately lost to Koroivos in a road game 75-81. Bottom-ranked Kavalas managed to beat Iraklis at home 91-88.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by Nikos Paparegkas of Iraklis.

Agriniou – Maroussi 72-70

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Agriniou (4-8) edged at home higher ranked Maroussi (7-5) 72-70 on Saturday. They outrebounded Maroussi 46-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by point guard Athanasios Bazinas (194-2003) who scored that evening 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Austin Lawton (206-1996, college: Claflin) supported him with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Agriniou’s coach Stefanos Perkos used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 17 points and 5 assists by point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-1988) did not help to save the game for Maroussi. Forward Ilias Theodorou (206-1995, college: Pacific) added 18 points and 7 rebounds. Agriniou moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with FEA Filadelfeia. Loser Maroussi dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Agriniou will meet higher ranked Iraklis (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Charilaos (5-7) was smashed on the road by twelfth ranked Aias Evosmou (5-7) 91-56 on Saturday. Aias Evosmou outrebounded Charilaos 44-30 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aias Evosmou made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American center Kyree Walker (198-2000) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 rebounds and center Antonis Karagiannidis (204-2002) supported him with 9 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks. Very predictable result when ninth ranked Koroivos (7-5) won against at home 15th ranked Amyntas (3-9) 81-75 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Koroivos made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Kostas Iatridis (207-2001) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian guard Stefan Mitrovic (195-1996) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field).
