26-year old guard D.J. Hanes (185-G-95, agency: One Motive Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for Palanga and receives a Hoops Agents NKL Player of the Week award for round 27.
He had the game-high 22 points adding five assists for Palanga in his team’s victory, helping them to crush Vilnius (#12, 7-19) with 16-point margin 81-65. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Palanga maintains the 9th position in Lithuanian NKL. Palanga is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-14 record. In the team’s last game Hanes had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Palanga’s top player in his first season with the team. Nebraska Christian College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hanes is league’s best scorer averaging so far 22.6ppg. Hanes is in league’s top in and averages solid 59.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Lukas Valantinas (205-C-01) of Vilnius. He is a center in his second season at Vilnius. In the last game Valantinas recorded impressive 11 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Vilnius lost that game 65-81 to the higher-ranked Palanga (#9, 12-14). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Vilnius keeps 12th position. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just seven victories Vilnius managed to get this year. Valantinas is well-known at Vilnius and he already established his position as one of the team’s leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to another Vilnius’ star – guard Adas Simonis (192-SG-01). Simonis scored 14 points. Despite Simonis’ great performance Vilnius lost 65-81 to the higher-ranked Palanga (#9, 12-14). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. Vilnius can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 7-19 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Simonis has a very solid season. In 13 games in Lithuania he scored 12.8ppg.
