We bring you last week’s top performances from Germans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
   #1. This week’s number one is an international power forward Johannes Voigtmann (211-92, currently plays in VTB United League). Voigtmann was the major contributor in CSKA‘s victory against the third-ranked Avtodor (8-2) crushing them 92-65 in the VTB United League last Tuesday.
He scored 14 points.
CSKA Moscow (8-2) is placed first in group A.
It was his team’s fourth consecutive victory in a row.
Voigtmann has relatively good stats this season: 10.4ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 57.1%, 3FGP: 57.1%(8-14) and FT: 85.7%.
He is currently a member of the German senior national team.
   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international forward Robin Benzing (208-89, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Italy). Benzing led Fortitudo BO to a victory over the closely-ranked Varese (1-3) 101-94 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night.
He was MVP of the game. Benzing scored 29 points (!!!), had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 28 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lavoropiu Fortitudo Bolognais placed in the Serie A.
This year Benzing has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 2.4rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 51.0%, 3FGP: 40.5% and FT: 83.3% in 12 games he played so far.
He is in the roster of the German senior national team.
   #3. The German player who performed third best last week abroad was former international point guard Dennis Schroeder (181-93, currently plays in NBA). Schroeder could not help the Boston Celtics (20-21) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the Boston Celtics (20-21) were edged 108-105 on the road by the New York Knicks.
Schroeder was the second best scorer with 20 points. He also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
It’s Schroeder’s first season with the team.
Schroeder has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 4.6apg, 2FGP: 48.2%, 3FGP: 32.6% and FT: 85.6%.
Schroeder has a dual citizenship: German and Gambian.
He played for the German national team three years ago.

   #4. Forward Maximilian Kleber (208-92, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Dallas Mavericks‘ victory against the Chicago Bulls (27-11) 113-99 in the NBA last Sunday.
Kleber scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes.
The Dallas Mavericks have 22-18 record this season.
It was his team’s sixth consecutive victory in a row.
Kleber is one of the most experienced players in a team as it’s his fifth year in Mavericks’ roster.
He has reliable stats this season: 7.7ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1apg in 25 games.
Kleber used to play for the German national team
back in 2019.
   #5. Former University international center Mahir Agva (206-96, currently plays in Turkey) helped Pinar Karsiyaka win their game against the 14th-ranked Buyukcekmece (3-11) 92-78 in the Turkish BSL on Wednesday night.
He recorded 9 points and added 3 passes.
Pinar Karsiyaka SK Izmir (8-5) is placed fourth in the BSL.
Agva’s team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Agva’s overall stats this season are: 4.6ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3apg.
He used to play for the German university national team
five years ago.

   #6. Guard Franz Wagner (206-1, college: Michigan, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Orlando Magic (7-34) in their last game. Despite Wagner’s very good performance the Orlando Magic (7-34) was edged 102-100 in Washington by the Wizards.
He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Wagner also added 6 rebounds in 29 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it’s only his third season in pro basketball. It was Magic’s ninth consecutive loss in a row.
Wagner has very impressive stats this year: 15.7ppg, 4.7rpg and 2.6apg in 41 games.
He is a former U18 international player as he played for the German team three years ago.

   #7. U20 international forward Tristan Da Silva (203-1, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Colorado win their game against the The University of Washington (1-2) 78-64 in the NCAA last Sunday.
Da Silva recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.
The University of Colorado has 3-1 conference record this season.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
Da Silva’s overall stats this year are: 8.7ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.8apg.
He is also German U20 national team player.

   #8. Center Daniel Theis (204-92, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Houston Rockets (11-31) in their last game on Monday. Despite his good performance the Houston Rockets (11-31) were badly defeated 111-91 in Philadelphia by the 76ers.
Theis recorded 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Theis averaged so far 8.8ppg and 5.2rpg.
He used to play for the German national team
back in 2019.
   #9. Former U20 international point guard Robert Zinn (197-95, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Fribourg win their game against the fifth-ranked Geneve (7-6) crushing them 93-64 in the Swiss SBL last Saturday.
Zinn scored 17 points and added 7 passes in 23 minutes.
Fribourg Olympic (12-1) is placed first in the SBL.
It was his team’s fourth consecutive victory in a row.
This year Zinn’s overall stats are: 8.8ppg, 3.1rpg and 3.7apg in 13 games.
He used to play for the German U20 national team
seven years ago.

   #10. Forward Niels Giffey (200-91, also represented by BeoBasket, college: UConn, currently plays in Lithuania) helped Zalgiris win their game against the closely-ranked Siauliai (10-6) 89-86 in the Lithuanian LKL in Friday night’s game.
He scored 6 points in only 10 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (15-1) is placed first in the LKL.
It was his team’s seventh consecutive victory in a row.
This year Giffey’s total stats are: 6.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.1spg in 13 games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior German National Team roster.

   #11. Former U20 international shooting guard Tibor Taras (198-97, currently plays in BNXT-League) couldn’t help Amsterdam in their game against BAL Weert in the BNXT League, despite his very good performance on Sunday night.
He was the top scorer with 22 points. Taras also added 6 rebounds in 29 minutes.
But his team was crushed by 26 points 94-68.
Taras averaged so far 14.8ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.9apg in 15 games.
He used to play for the German U20 national team
six years ago.

   #12. International forward Moritz Wagner (211-97, college: Michigan, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Franz Wagner. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention.
Wagner couldn’t help the Orlando Magic in their game against the Detroit Pistons.
He scored 8 points.
His team was defeated 97-92 in the NBA.
Wagner has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 2.4rpg.
He is also in the roster of the German national team.

   #13. Former University international guard Bazoumana Kone (193-93, college: Bremerhaven, currently plays in BNXT-League) couldn’t help Liege in their game against Phoenix Brussels in the BNXT League, despite his very good performance in Friday night’s game.
Kone was the top scorer with 15 points. He also added 5 rebounds in 30 minutes.
But his team lost 71-86.
Kone has very impressive stats this year: 15.5ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.5apg and 2.3spg in 11 games.
He used to play for the German university national team
five years ago.

   #14. International point guard Ismet Akpinar (193-95, another player represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul to win against the fourth-ranked Olympiacos 94-80 in the Euroleague last Tuesday.
Akpinar scored only one point.
This season Akpinar averages only 2.3ppg.
He plays currently for the German national team.

   #15. Former U18 international center Justin Raffington (206-91, college: FAU, currently plays in Spain) helped Valladolid win their game against the 16th-ranked Juaristi ISB crushing them 82-59 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Tuesday night’s game.
He recorded 8 points.
Raffington has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 3.5rpg.
He used to play for the German U18 national team
thirteen years ago.

The list of other players, who all have German passport but never been selected to any of German national teams:

   #1. Adam Ariel (195-SG-94, agency: Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) led his Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem to a victory over the closely-ranked Prometey (3-3) crushing them 95-70 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night’s game.
He was MVP of the game. Ariel recorded 24 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 25 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (3-3) is placed second in the Basketball Champions League.
It was Hapoel’s third consecutive victory in a row.
Ariel has relatively good stats this year: 10.4ppg and 2.6rpg in seven games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: German and Israeli.

   #2. Nigel Pruitt (201-F-94, college: KSU, currently plays in BNXT-League) could not help Leeuwarden (8-8) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Leeuwarden lost 75-82 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Zwolle.
Pruitt was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 3 steals in 26 minutes.
There are only two games left until the end of the BNXT League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Pruitt averaged so far 12.5ppg, 4.5rpg and 2.5spg in two games.
He is a naturalized American.
Worth to mention Pruitt played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Pruitt used to play for TSG Westerstede in German league.

   #3. Dylan Osetkowski (206-F-96, agency: BeoBasket, college: Texas, currently plays in France) contributed to an ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket‘s victory against one of league’s weakest teams Cholet Basket (4-11) 90-85 in the French Betclic ELITE ProA on Sunday night.
Osetkowski scored 9 points.
ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (12-0) is placed first in the Betclic ELITE ProA.
So far ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket won all twelve games in the Regular Season.
Osetkowski averaged so far 10.5ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.1apg.
He is a naturalized American.
Osetkowski used to play for BG Goettingen in German league.

   #4. Julian Jasinski (201-F-96, currently plays in Poland) was the major contributor in Krosno‘s victory against the closely-ranked Kociewskie Diably (8-9) 76-72 in the Polish 1Liga (second division) last Saturday.
Jasinski recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 13 rebounds.
Miasto Szkla Krosno (8-9) is placed eighth in the 1Liga.
Jasinski has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.4apg.
Jasinski is another player who holds two passports: German and Polish.

   #5. Bar Timor (190-G-92, also represented by Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Israel) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Hapoel Eilat (5-9) crushing them 97-64 in the Israeli Winner League in Wednesday night’s game.
Timor scored 11 points.
Hapoel SP Tel-Aviv (7-6) is placed seventh in the Winner League.
It was his team’s fourth consecutive victory in a row.
Timor has averaged so far 9.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.5apg and 1.1spg.
He has both German and Israeli nationalities.

   #6. Experienced Kiril Wachsmann (203-C-84, college: Iona, currently plays in Uruguay) was not able to help Malvin (9-3) in their last game. Despite Wachsmann’s good performance Malvin was crushed 93-64 in a derby game by the lower-ranked (#8) Penarol.
He had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting the same number of rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 30 minutes.
Wachsmann averaged so far 10.3ppg, 9.8rpg and 2.3apg in 12 games.
He also holds two passports: German and Uruguayan.

   #7. Kevin McClain (190-G-96, college: Belmont, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Provence Basket in their game against JL Bourg in the French Betclic ELITE ProA.
McClain scored 5 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals in 29 minutes.
His team lost 56-63.
McClain averaged so far 10.4ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.9apg and 1.5spg in eight games.
He is a naturalized American.
McClain used to play for EWE Baskets Oldenburg in German league.

   #8. Mateo Zovko (193-F-98, college: Laramie CC, currently plays in Bosnia) couldn’t help Zrinjski HT (2-8) in their last game. Despite Zovko’s very good performance Zrinjski HT lost 85-99 in Siroki Brijeg to the leading Siroki.
He was the second best scorer with 17 points in 33 minutes.
Zovko has averaged so far 8.1ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.7apg in 10 games.
He holds both German and Bosnia and Herzegovina passports.
Despite Zovko’s German nationality, he previously played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the German team.

   #9. Juwan Willis (188-G-97, college: Point Park, currently plays in Spain) contributed to Guadalajara‘s victory against the seventh-ranked La Matanza 97-89 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) on Saturday night.
Willis scored 12 points in 20 minutes.
Willis averaged so far 10.7ppg, 2.4rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg in 14 games.
He is a naturalized American.
Strangely Willis has never played in Germany.

   #10. Christian von Fintel (190-G-90, currently plays in Austria) couldn’t help Raiffeisen Flyers Wels in their game against UBSC Graz in the Austrian BSL.
He recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 34 minutes.
His team lost 64-73.
von Fintel averaged so far 11.2ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg in 11 games.
