There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

First defeat of league’s leader Bornova against Mersin 85-79 was the most important game of the last round. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-1991, college: LIU Post) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Ogulcan Baykan (196-1996) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Mersin’s coach Semih Soguksu used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Colin Slater (185-1997, college: LBSU) replied with 29 points and 5 assists for Bornova. Bornova will play next round against strong Final Spor trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mersin will try to continue on its current victory against Fenerbahce 2 in Istanbul.
Final Spor defeated Kocaeli in Bursa 82-68. Point guard Erdem Ilter (186-1990) had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and LaceDarius Dunn chipped in 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. American forward Nick Banyard (203-1994, college: UCF, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Kocaeli will play next round against Samsunspor trying to get back on the winning streak. Final Spor will try to continue on its current victory against Bornova at Izmir.

Sigortam.net will meet Cagdas BS in the next round and are hoping to win another game. OGM Orman will play against Antalya and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Fenerbahce 2 beat Haremspor on the road 93-78. Mamak won against Antalya on its own court 86-76. Cagdas BS unfortunately lost to Balikesir in a road game 88-98. Yalovaspor lost to TED Ankara at home 75-77. Gemlik was crushed by Samsunspor on the opponent’s court 52-77.

Haremspor – Fenerbahce 2 78-93

But Haremspor was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 93-78 on Saturday night. Fenerbahce 2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American swingman DShawn Schwartz (201-1999, college: GMU) notched 19 points to lead the effort and guard Ekrem Sancakli (194-2001) supported him with 14 points and 4 assists. Even 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Donte Clark (194-1994, college: Texas Southern) did not help to save the game for Haremspor. Guard Utku Saraloglu (188-1996) added 10 points and 6 assists for the hosts. Five Fenerbahce 2 and four Haremspor players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce 2 will meet at home Mersin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Very expected game when Antalya lost to Mamak in Ankara 76-86 on Saturday. Mamak looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Myles Mack (178-1993, college: Rutgers) notched 21 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and Gokhan Demirli (-1999) supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Five Mamak players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by guard Hamit Sezaver (194-1992) did not help to save the game for Antalya. American guard TJ Crockett (185-1999, college: Lindenwood) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Mamak will meet Yalovaspor on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Antalya will play against OGM Orman in Ankara and hope to win that game.

There was a surprise result when Balikesir won against at home Cagdas BS 98-88 on Saturday. Balikesir dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cagdas BS’s 28. They outrebounded Cagdas BS 39-25 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Kahlil Dukes (183-1995, college: Niagara) notched 27 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and Berke Aygunduz (196-1998) supported him with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Even 29 points by American point guard Chris Warren (177-1988, college: Ole Miss) did not help to save the game for Cagdas BS. Hakan Yapar (202-1984) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Balikesir will meet Gemlik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cagdas BS will play against Sigortam.net and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
