The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of M.Rehovot on the court of E.Ashkelon on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by E.Ashkelon 90-71. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. E.Ashkelon forced 20 M.Rehovot turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Polish guard Gal Gilinski (195-1995, agency: Avi Zilberman) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Dakarai Tucker (196-1994, college: Utah) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American forward Derrick Woods (203-1997, college: St.Peter’s) answered with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for M.Rehovot. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. E.Ashkelon is looking forward to face M.Raanana on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. M.Rehovot will play against E.Netanya and is hoping to win this game.
Another interesting game for H.Afula which played on the court of E.Netanya. H.Afula won 81-73. American Jimmy Hall (203-1994, college: Kent St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Koren Zorno chipped in 10 points and 4 assists. At the losing side naturalized Canadian forward Ethan Butler (198-2002) responded with 22 points. E.Netanya’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. H.Afula will play against I.Nahariya at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. E.Netanya will play against M.Rehovot to get more than just one victory in their record.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between I.Nahariya and M.Ramat Gan , which took place in Nahariya. I.Nahariya lost at home to M.Ramat Gan 70-78 on Wednesday. Kevin Capers nailed 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. M.Ramat Gan’s coach Yaniv Burger used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Dominez Burnett came up with 20 points for I.Nahariya in the defeat. M.Ramat Gan will meet at home E.Shomron in the next round and are hoping to win another game. I.Nahariya will play against H.Afula and hope to win that game.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. H.Hevel Modi’in lost to Ramat Hash. on the road 80-118. M.Ma’ale Adum. lost to M.Raanana on its own court 72-87. M.Rishon managed to outperform E.Shomron in Rishon Le-Zion 63-53.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 19 points and 11 rebounds by Keith Stone of E.Shomron.
