Round 4 most important game was a defeat of league’s leader Amicale (3-1). They were crushed by third ranked Esch (3-1) 91-61 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Amicale. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Esch dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Amicale’s 32 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Amicale 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Clancy Rugg (204-1991, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and American-Jamaican guard Prince Foster (193, college: Angelo St.) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Bob Melcher (189-1994) responded with 11 points and 8 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Esch have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Amicale. Amicale will play next round against Arantia trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Esch will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus.

The winners were led by American Lamar Mallory (201-1990, college: GSC) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and Philippe Gutenkauf supported him with 18 points and 7 assists. Even 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Jamison Overton (198, college: Weber St.) did not help to save the game for Arantia. Arantia’s coach Christophe Ney rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Etzella (3-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Arantia at the other side keeps the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Sparta. Etzella will play against Sparta (#6) in Bertrange in the next round. Arantia will play on the road against Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Sparta will play against Etzella in Ettelbruck and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 4: T71 won against Grengewald on the opponent’s court 78-68. Contern was outscored by Residence in a home game 85-105. Musel Pikes managed to beat Soleuvre on the road 89-76.

Grengewald – T71 68-78

Very expected game in Niederanven where 9th ranked Grengewald (1-3) was defeated by top-ranked T71 (4-0) 78-68 on Friday. International point guard Kevin Moura (182-1994) fired 23 points for the winners. American forward Moses Greenwood (201-1997, college: SE Louisiana) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four T71 players scored in double figures. American forward Kevion Blaylock (198-1994, college: William Penn) produced 27 points and the former international swingman Patrick Arbaut (186-1987) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. T71 have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Newly promoted Grengewald dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. T71 will meet at home Contern (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Grengewald will play against Heffingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Residence (3-1) smashed on the road 8th ranked Contern (1-3) 105-85 on Friday. Residence looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Contern’s players. Americans were the main players on the court. Grant Dressler (201-1997, college: Chaminade) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard TreVion Crews (183-1996, college: Bethel, IN) chipped in 25 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Residence’s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Tyler Cartaino (198-1996, college: Chaminade) produced 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Clay Guillozet (193-1997, college: Valdosta St.) added 20 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Five Residence and four Contern players scored in double figures. Residence moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Contern keeps the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Residence will meet at home bottom-ranked Soleuvre (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Contern will play against the league’s leader T71 (#1) in Dudelange and hope to win that game.
