22-year old forward Evan Jester (201-F-99) put on an amazing game in the last round for New Bayazet and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
He had a double-double of 28 points and 20 rebounds, while his team beat Cilicia (#8, 0-7), the league’s bottom-ranked team 105-97. New Bayazet is placed at 5th position in Caucasus Basketball League. New Bayazet is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-4 record. Jester turned to be New Bayazet’s top player in his first season with the team. Georgia Institute of Technology graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jester is in league’s top in points (6th best: 21.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 13.3rpg) and averages solid 53.4% FGP. Worth to mention Jester played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.
Second best performed player last round was Anthony Alston (183-G-94) of Dvin. He is American guard in his first season at Dvin. In the last game Alston recorded impressive 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Dvin lost that game 79-84 to the higher-ranked Mad Foxes (#2, 6-1). Dvin is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 2-4 record. Alston is a newcomer at Dvin and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.6ppg (#9). His other stats are also decent: 5.8rpg and 6.4apg.
Third place about best performers goes to swingman Javonte Matthews (195-G/F-95) of Cilicia (#8). Matthews got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for thirteen rebounds . Despite Matthews’ great performance Cilicia lost 97-105 to the higher-ranked New Bayazet (#5, 3-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Cilicia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 7 games. Matthews has individually a great season in Caucasus Basketball League. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 27.7ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 13.1rpg (3rd best). Matthews attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
