Talented Emilis Bartninkas (198-F-04) had a very impressive game in the last round for league’s second-best Zalgiris II and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 17-year old forward had a double-double of 29 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team edged out Panevezio (#8, 4-6) 89-88. Zalgiris II maintains the 2nd position in Lithuanian U18 League. Zalgiris II has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 9-1. Bartninkas turned to be Zalgiris II’s top player in his first season with the team. Bartninkas has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in points (2nd best: 21.7ppg) and averages solid 56.3% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 17-year old forward Danielius Kasparas (198-F-04) of VKM. Kasparas impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as VKM was edged by league’s leader VKKM (#1, 9-0) 85-83. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. VKM still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team’s 5-5 record is not bad at all. Kasparas is well-known by VKM fans and he already established his position as one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#9). He also registered 10.7 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Nojus Vaivada (192-G/F-04) of RasKKSC (#10). Vaivada showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and eleven assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of RasKKSC, leading his team to a 88-85 win against slightly lower-ranked Zalgiris I (#12, 1-8). The chances of RasKKSC not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 7 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Vaivada could try to bring RasKKSC’s a little bit higher in the standings. Vaivada has individually a great season in Lithuania. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 9.2rpg (9th best) and assists with 7.8apg (2nd best).
