Tofas Bursa (BSL) added to their roster 32-year old ex-international power forward Ilkan Karaman (205cm-1990, agency: Octagon Europe) for season 2022-2023. It is actually his comeback to Tofas as he has played here before. Karaman played last season at Semt77 Yalova Belediye Spor (BSL). In 27 games he recorded 7.5ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.0apg.
Part of previous (2020-2021) season he spent at Socar Petkim where in three BSL games he averaged 4.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.0apg. He also spent pre-season at Olympique Antibes (ProB) in French league.
In 2012 he was drafted by Brooklyn Nets (NBA) in second round (57th overall).
Karaman was a member of Turkish international program for some years. He was called to Turkish Senior National Team two years ago and previously for U20 National Team in 2010.
Karaman has played previously professionally in Turkey (Pinar Karsiyaka, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, ITU Istanbul and Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi) and France (Cholet Basket).
The scouts decsribe him following way:
(by Giovanni Conte for NBADraft.net in 2012)
Late bloomer with apparent potential left to develop .. His body is very strong, with long arms, and so he is a great rebounder with good ability to finish in the paint .. He’s left-handed and surprisingly can shoot out to the three point line. Consistency is not there. Disappears for stretches of games .. Doesn’t know how to properly use his size and strength advantage in the post.
