Gaiteros de Zulia (SPB) agreed terms with 28-year old Dominican-Spanish power forward Jhonatan Araujo (206cm-1996). Araujo moved there from Piratas. In 5 SPB games in Venezuela just recently he had 6.8ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.0apg last season.
He represented Dominican Republic at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador (El Salvador) two years ago. His team won Gold.
Araujo is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Argentina, Colombia (Storm), Mexico (Lenadores and Correcaminos), Puerto Rico (Indios), Uruguay (Penarol), Spain (Breogan Lugo, Coruna and Araberri) and Dominican Republic (San Carlos, Sameji, Cupes, Plaza and Caneros) and Venezuela (Broncos, Gladiadores and Centauros). Araujo played in the final of Dominican Republic LNB in 2017, 2018 and 2023.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SPB Honorable Mention in 2024.
