The most important game in the last round took place in Saint Petersburg between second ranked MBA-2 (39-9) and fourth ranked Zenit-2 (33-15) on Wednesday night. MBA-2 was defeated by Zenit-2 on the road 82-67. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of MBA-2. Strangely MBA-2 outrebounded Zenit-2 38-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by MBA-2‘s players. Worth to mention a great performance of Alexandr Porotnikov (192-2007, agency: Dream Team Agency) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists and Egor Evstafev (200-2006) who added 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Klim Adaykin (195-2005) with 17 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 33-15 record. MBA-2 at the other side keeps the second place with nine games lost.
VTB-Youth League top team – CSKA-Junior (40-8) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Enisey-2 (2-46) in Moscow 97-55. The winners were led by Andrey Lukyanov (205-2005) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Rostislav Gusev supported him with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Even 13 points and 4 assists by Vadim Afanasev (190-2006) did not help to save the game for Enisey-2. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CSKA-Junior have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 40-8 record. Enisey-2 lost seventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 46 lost games.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 60: Khimki-2 destroyed Samara-2 on the opponent’s court 81-54. Avtodor-2 was outscored by Minsk in a home game 68-90. Lokomotiv-2 rolled over UNICS-2 on the road 88-58. Uralmash-2 was defeated by Parma-2 on its own court 69-85.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 9 points and 14 rebounds by Egor Nikishenko of Uralmash-2.
Samara-2 – Khimki-2 54-81
Very expected game when 10th ranked Samara-2 (14-34) was crushed at home by third ranked Khimki-2 (36-12) 81-54. Khimki-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Samara-2‘s 24. They outrebounded Samara-2 50-32 including 23 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by Pavel Repnin (199-2006) who scored that evening 13 points and 9 rebounds and Maxim Panarin supported him with 14 points. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by point guard Ilya Zaytcev (193-2005) did not help to save the game for Samara-2. Daniil Martynov added 10 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimki-2 have a solid four-game winning streak.
