An interesting game for MBA-2 (39-8) which played road game in Saint Petersburg against 4th placed Zenit-2 (32-15). Second ranked MBA-2 managed to get a 11-point victory 78-67. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Zenit-2. MBA-2 made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Zenit-2 outrebounded MBA-2 44-30 including a 25-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MBA-2 made 8 blocks. Matvey Padius (194-2006) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. Daniil Finaev (198-2006) contributed with 12 points for the winners. point guard Artemiy Koshev (186-2006) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for Zenit-2. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MBA-2 have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with CSKA-Junior. Defending champion Zenit-2 keeps the fourth place with 15 games lost. VTB-Youth League top team – CSKA-Junior (39-8) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Enisey-2 (2-45) in Moscow 92-55. It was a great evening for center Zakhar Lavrenov (205-2005, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Denis Klubbe helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Vadim Afanasev (190-2006) responded with 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for CSKA-Junior. They maintain first place with 39-8 record, which they share with MBA-2. Enisey-2 lost their sixth game in a row. They stay dead last with 45 lost games. Tenth-ranked Uralmash-2 (14-33) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Parma-2 (31-16) in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday. The visitors from Perm managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Uralmash-2. It was an exceptional evening for Grigoriy Golovchenko who led the winners and scored 14 points. Parma-2’s coach Anton Kataev used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Artyom Fomin came up with 23 points for Uralmash-2 in the defeat. Parma-2 maintains fifth place with 31-16 record. Uralmash-2 at the other side keeps the tenth position with 33 games lost. They share it with Samara-2. Parma-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Uralmash-2 will play again against Parma-2 (#5) and hope to secure a win.
