The Regular Season in Winner League is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tel Aviv. Third ranked Hapoel Jerusalem faced second-ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Guests from Jerusalem (18-5) defeated host Maccabi Tel-Aviv (19-4) 95-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Maccabi Tel-Aviv. 25 personal fouls committed by M.Tel-Aviv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jared Harper (178-1997, college: Auburn) who scored 30 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import center Austin Wiley (211-1999, college: Auburn) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). American guard Jimmy Clark III (191-2001, college: Duquesne, agency: Diamond Sports) produced 24 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. H.Jerusalem maintains third place with 18-5 record having four points less than leader H.Tel-Aviv. Defending champion M.Tel-Aviv keeps the second position with four games lost. H.Jerusalem are looking forward to face H.Be’er Sheva (#9) in Beer Sheva in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. M.Tel-Aviv will play on the road against H.Gilboa Galil (#8) in Gan Ner and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was played in Nes Ziyona between seventh ranked I.Ness Ziona and 4th placed Bnei Hertzeliya where host I.Ness Ziona (11-12) won against Bnei Hertzeliya (13-10) 93-83. American Bryce Brown (190-1996, college: Auburn) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Darnell Edge contributed with 24 points for the winners. The former international guard Ethan Burg (190-2002) answered with 18 points and 8 assists for Bnei Hertzeliya. I.Ness Ziona maintains seventh place with 11-12 record. Bnei Hertzeliya at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with H.Holon. I.Ness Ziona will play against E.Netanya (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bnei Hertzeliya will play against H.Haifa (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Leader Hapoel Tel-Aviv delivered the twenty first victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Ramat Gan (12-11) 88-82 in Tel Aviv. It was a great evening for Johnathan Motley who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 assists. Hapoel Tel-Aviv’s coach Dimitris Itoudis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Isaiah Miles responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Hapoel Tel-Aviv (21-3) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. H.Tel-Aviv maintains first place. M.Ramat Gan lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. H.Tel-Aviv will meet at home H.Galil Elion (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. M.Ramat Gan will play against Kiryat Ata (#13) and hope to secure a win.
Other games of round 23 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
E.Netanya was defeated by H.Afula in a road game 86-78. Bottom-ranked H.Haifa was beaten by H.Galil Elion at home 112-116. H.Gilboa Galil won against H.Be’er Sheva on the opponent’s court 88-72. Kiryat Ata unfortunately lost to H.Holon in a home game 93-98.
