Defending champion maintains third position with 15-4 record having just three points less than leader Zaza Pachulia. Academy at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Rustavi are looking forward to face league’s leader Zaza Pachulia in Tbilisi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Academy will play at home against Basco (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Academy was smashed at home by 34 points 70-104 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Luka Dolbadze (190-2007) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Nikolozi Kobaidze supported him with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Hyundai’s coach Irakli Cherqezishvili felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by point guard Aleksandre Bachilava (177-2007) did not help to save the game for Academy. Hyundai (17-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Zaza Pachulia. Academy at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Hyundai will play against Basco (#9) in Batumi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Academy will play at home against Basco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Overtime (0-20) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 20th consecutive match to ninth ranked Basco (7-12) 83-54 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was Saba Surmanidze who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Giorgi Tskhadadze produced 10 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Basco maintains ninth position with 7-12 record. Loser Overtime still closes the standings. Basco will meet higher ranked Academy (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Overtime’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Brooklyn.

In the last two games of round 26 Dinamo won against Sokhumi on the opponent’s court 70-57. Wings unfortunately lost to Kutaisi in a home game 64-73.


Academy – Rustavi 63-66

Very expected game in Tbilisi where 13th ranked Sokhumi (2-17) was defeated by eighth ranked Dinamo (8-12) 70-57 on Friday. Dinamo forced 19 Sokhumi turnovers. The best player for the winners was Revaz Svaridze (190-2007) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Guard Aleksandre Chavleshvili (185-2007) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Dinamo’s coach Luka Oskopeli used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Zviad Kipshidze (198-2008) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds and guard Merabi Guruli (190-2007) added 26 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Dinamo maintains eighth position with 8-12 record. Sokhumi lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Kutaisi outrebounded Wings 54-41 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Nikoloz Berekashvili (195-2007) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 25 rebounds. Gera Cheishvili (186-2007) chipped in 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
