There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in BSL. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked Gunners Oberwart (6-3) recorded its third loss in Klosterneuburg on Friday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Dukes (5-4) 75-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gunners Oberwart. The best player for the winners was American forward Will Carius (205-1998, college: W.Illinois) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import guard KJ Jenkins (188-2000, college: UNCW) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Robert Allen (206-2000, college: N.Texas, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Klosterneuburg moved-up to third place, which they share with Gmunden. Defending champion Oberwart still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Wels. Klosterneuburg is looking forward to face Gmunden (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Oberwart will play against the league’s second-placed Wels and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Sixth-ranked UBSC Graz (2-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (6-3). Raiffeisen Flyers Wels managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for German Radii Caisin (198-2001) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 5 rebounds. Damion Rosser contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American swingman Greg Johnson (196-2000, college: ENMU) answered with 30 points and 9 rebounds for UBSC Graz. UBSC Graz’s coach Ervin Dragsic tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Wels keep a position of league leader, which they share with Oberwart. UBSC Graz lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Wels will play against league’s leader Oberwart on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UBSC Graz will play against Traiskirchen (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Visiting Gmunden Swans were defeated by Arkadia Lions in Traiskirchen 82-65. Nelson Haskin stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Daniel Friedrich with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Traiskirchen moved-up to fifth place. Gmunden at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Klosterneuburg. Traiskirchen will meet UBSC Graz (#6) on the road in the next round. Gmunden will play against Klosterneuburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 9 Vienna was crushed by BBC Nord in Eisenstadt 87-68.


BBC Nord – Vienna 87-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked BC Vienna‘s (3-5) road loss to eighth ranked Nord Dragonz (6-1) 68-87 on Thursday. BBC Nord forced 23 Vienna turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American Jalen Green (203-2000, college: WWU) stepped up and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Rayshawn Mart (190-1998, college: Xavier, LA) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Mart is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Nord Dragonz’s coach Felix Jambor used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was naturalized Croatian center Leon Bulic (211-2001) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and forward Aron Stazic (202-2007) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. BBC Nord used an opportunity after Kapfenberg lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Vienna at the other side keeps the ninth place with five games lost. BBC Nord will meet St.Poelten (#10) on the road in the next round. Vienna will have a break next round.
