It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of VKKM. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to VKKM‘s 50. Zalgiris had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for guard Nedas Orlickas (180-2007) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Dominykas Urbonavicius (188-2007) helped adding 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. U18 League top team – VKM (18-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Marijampoles (9-13) in Vilniaus 109-82. The best player for the winners was Kornelijus Snitka who scored 29 points and 6 assists. Gabrielius Bubnys produced 25 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VKM have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-3 record. Loser Marijampoles keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 23: bottom-ranked Panevezio lost to KKM I on the opponent’s court 60-71. Tornado KM managed to outperform KKM I in a home game 100-89. SKM II recorded a loss to Perkunas on the road 79-76. Saule was defeated by Zalgiris II on its own court 73-85. Zalgiris smashed Panevezio in Kaunas 102-66.
KKM I – Panevezio 71-60
Very expected game in Klaipeda where 12th ranked Panevezio (1-21) was defeated by fifth ranked KKM I (13-8) 71-60 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by KKM I. Panevezio managed to win fourth quarter 19-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Justas Sadauskas (-2007) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Matas Liotisas (183-2007) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. KKM I’s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest.
