American-Nigerian Point guard Ayo Akinwole (183-PG-1998) had an amazing evening in the last round for Perfumerias Avenida Xoborg Salamanca, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 21.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed Maceira (#14, 5-16) with 43-point margin 101-58. Avenida maintains the 3rd position in their group in the Spanish Tercera FEB. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Avenida will need more victories to improve their 15-6 record. In the team’s last game Akinwole had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Avenida‘s top player in his first season with the team. Ayo Akinwole averages this season 14.3ppg.

The second best player in last round’s games was young Alberto Diaz (209-C-1998) of Traumacor Culleredo. Diaz had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Culleredo lost that game 89-99 to the higher-ranked Obradoiro S. (#7, 11-10). This loss caused Culleredo to drop to 10th position in A-B. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 8-13 record. Diaz is a newcomer at Culleredo, but is already one of team’s top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Brazilian swingman Mathias Vazquez (201-F/G-2008) of Real Betis Baloncesto Sevilla 2nd team (#11). Vazquez showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, 12 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Vazquez’s great performance the Real Betis 2 lost 71-79 to the higher-ranked Caceres Lith.Ib. (#6, 11-8). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Real Betis 2 can only dream about fighting for top spots in D-B. They have rather bad season and 4-15 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Vazquez has a very solid season. In 17 games in Spain he scored 17.3ppg. He also has 7.9rpg, 3.6apg, 1.1bpg and a FGP of 50.6%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
