The most exciting game of round 3 in the BasketLigaen took place in Horsens. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Bakken (16-7) to Horsens IC (18-5) 86-84 on Thursday evening. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for Marek Nelson (202-1999, college: Nicholls, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points. Matt Balanc (193, college: Quinnipiac) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Urald King (198-1990, college: SE Oklahoma) with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Horsens IC is looking forward to face Randers (#5) on the road in the next round. Bakken will have a break next round.
Svendborg (19-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed Copenhagen (8-15) 108-72. It was a quality performance for American forward Isiah Small (202-1998, college: Texas St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. Jemarl Baker Jr accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Gustav Winther (207-2004, agency: Highlight Athletes) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds for Copenhagen in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very close game took place in Aarhus between BAC and Vaerlose. BAC (4-18) got a very close home victory over Vaerlose (6-17). BAC managed to escape with a 1-point win 73-72 on Wednesday evening. The best player for the winners was Daniel Lilhauge who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Marvin Brumfield who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BAC will meet Amager (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaerlose will have a break next round.
In the last game of round 3 Amager won against Herlev on the opponent’s court 83-75.
Herlev – Amager 75-83
Rather expected game when Herlev (6-17) was defeated at home by Amager (8-14) 83-75 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Tomas Bjarkason (204-1999, college: Lewis) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists. American guard Isaiah Burnett (195-1999, college: Stonehill) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Mile Nedic (200-1994, college: Lindenwood) who recorded 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Igor Bakic (200-2000) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Herlev players scored in double figures. Herlev’s coach Erez Bittman rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Amager will meet at home BAC (#11) in the next round. Herlev will play against Holbaek and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
