The game between third ranked ADA Blois (19-8) and seventh ranked Aix-Maurienne (16-11) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. ADA Blois was defeated by Aix-Maurienne in a tough game in Aix-les-Bains 87-91. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of ADA Blois. Aix-Maurienne made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Irish center Neal Quinn (213-2001, college: Richmond) who scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Mali point guard Siriman Kanoute (180-2001) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Romuald Morency (202-1995) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). ADA Blois’ coach tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to fifth place. Blois at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Aix-Maurienne are looking forward to face league’s leader Boulazac on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blois will play against Roanne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Boulazac Basket delivered the twentieth victory. This time they crushed 20th ranked Provence Basket (7-20) 82-56 in Fos-sur-Mer. It was a good game for point guard Hugo Robineau (193-2000) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. Angelo Warner contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. Boulazac Basket’s coach Alexandre Menard felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DR Congolese Christian Eyenga (198-1989) answered with 12 points for Fos-sur-Mer. Boulazac maintains first place with 20-7 record, which they share with Orleans. Fos-sur-Mer lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Boulazac will play against Aix-Maurienne (#5) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round. Fos-sur-Mer will play on the road against Gries-Souffel (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Poitiers between Poitiers and JA Vichy. Tenth ranked Poitiers (14-13) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked JA Vichy (12-15). Poitiers managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Tuesday evening. It was a great evening for Luka Rupnik who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. The best for the losing side was Assemian Moulare with 18 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Poitiers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Rouen. Loser JA Vichy dropped to the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Poitiers will meet at home Denain-Voltaire (#12) in the next round. Vichy will play against the league’s second-placed Orleans where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
Other games of round 27 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Evreux was defeated by Roanne in a road game 88-76. Pau-Lacq-Orthez was beaten by Rouen at home 71-74. Nantes won against Hyeres-Toulon on the opponent’s court 78-73. Saint-Chamond unfortunately lost to Antibes in a home game 89-103. Chalons-Reims was rolled over Orleans on the road 59-78.
The best stats of 27th round was 20 points and 5 rebounds by Lorenzo Thirouard-Samson of Orleans.
Poitiers – Vichy 78-76
A very close game took place in Poitiers between Poitiers and JA Vichy. Tenth ranked Poitiers (14-13) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked JA Vichy (12-15). Forward Dylan Affo Mama (197-1999) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Chorale de Roanne players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Bahamas Aaron Levarity (203-1997, college: Milligan, agency: Slash Sports) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard EJ Day (180-1999, college: Lasell) scored 14 points.
