Leader Krka delivered the sixteenth victory on Friday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Sentjur (8-11) 85-68 in Novo Mesto. Krka had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Sentjur helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international swingman Zak Smrekar (201-2006) fired 20 points for the winners. American guard Kendall Robinson (198-1998, college: W.Connecticut) chipped in 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian power forward Rados Seslija (208-1992, agency: PEPI SPORT) produced 14 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Krka maintains first place with 16-3 record, which they share with Helios Suns. Sentjur at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Triglav. Krka is looking forward to face Zlatorog (#9) in Lasko in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sentjur will play at home against Ilirija and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Mark Padjen (196-2006) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Tim Tomazic contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ben Stanley (201-1998, college: ODU) answered with 18 points for LTH Castings. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ilirija have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 14-5 record having just two points less than leader Krka. LTH Castings lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Ilirija will play against Sentjur (#7) on the road in the next round. LTH Castings will play against Terme Olimia and hope to get back on the winning track.

There was no surprise in Domzale where 6th ranked Triglav (8-11) was defeated by second ranked Helios Suns (16-3) 72-66. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Helios Suns made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Triglav only scored seven points from the stripe. Triglav was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-1990, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Lovro Urbiha (204-2003, agency: PEPI SPORT) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Helios Suns’ coach Jure Mocnik allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Sencur Gor. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Zlatorog‘s 28. Sencur Gor. forced 21 Zlatorog turnovers and outrebounded them 36-22 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Zlatorog was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for forward Alen Malovcic (198-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Domen Petrovic (204-2004) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Sencur Gor. players scored in double figures. Forward Filip Horvat (203-2004) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Filip Pirs (190-2005) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Zlatorog. Very expected game in Podcetrtek where 8th ranked Rogaska (6-13) was defeated by fourth ranked Terme Olimia (12-7) 86-76. Terme Olimia outrebounded Rogaska 46-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. Terme Olimia players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for Igor Struger (204-2001) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. Naturalized Bosnian forward Simo Atanackovic (207-1990) contributed with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Terme Olimia players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Uros Ilic (207-1998) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Luka Tekavcic (211-2002, college: Coppin St., agency: PEPI SPORT) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Rogaska. Rogaska’s coach Damjan Novakovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Terme Olimia maintains fourth place with 12-7 record. Rogaska at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost.
