Panathinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kolossos HH‘s 42. It was a good game for American-Spanish point guard Lorenzo Brown (196-1990, college: NC State) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 6 assists. South Sudanese center Wenyen Gabriel (208-1997, college: Kentucky) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Nick McGlynn (206-1996, college: Drake) replied with 16 points for Kolossos HH. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Panathinaikos have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-0 record. Kolossos HH at the other side stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Panathinaikos’ supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Maroussi.
Important game to mention about took place in Lavrio. Tenth ranked Lavrio (7-11) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 11th ranked Maroussi (5-13) 94-92 on Sunday evening. There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: Promitheas was smashed by AEK Betsson on the road 91-71. Karditsas won against Peristeri on its own court 89-83. PAOK was outscored by Olympiacos in Piraeus 86-60.


AEK Betsson – Promitheas 91-71

No shocking result in a game when third ranked AEK Betsson (10-8) crushed 6th ranked Promitheas (8-10) in Athens 91-71 on Saturday. AEK Betsson dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Promitheas‘ 24 and made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. AEK Betsson forced 19 Promitheas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Hunter Hale (192-1997, college: Winthrop) notched 22 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and forward RaiQuan Gray (203-1999, college: FSU) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five AEK Betsson players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by point guard Jordan Walker (180-1999, college: UAB) did not help to save the game for Promitheas. Forward Wes Iwundu (198-1994, college: Kansas St.) added 13 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international forward Leonidas Kaselakis (200-1990) notched 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and British-American Noah Horchler (204-1998, college: Providence) supported him with 16 points. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) by American forward Chris Coffey (201-1997, college: Georgetown, KY, agency: One Motive Sports) did not help to save the game for Peristeri.
