Burgos SP forced 19 Moron turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Moron helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Argentinian swingman Gonzalo Corbalan (193-2002, college: LCU) fired 18 points and 4 steals for the winners. The former international forward Daniel Diez (203-1993) chipped in 15 points. American swingman Andre Norris (203-1994, college: Dubuque) produced 16 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Burgos SP (18-1) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place. Moron lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games. Burgos SP are looking forward to face Palencia (#5) on the road in the next round. Moron will play against Zamora (#11) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of DR Congolese-Canadian guard Mathieu Kamba (196-1995, college: Cent Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Juan Pablo Vaulet contributed with 17 points for the winners. Danish center Kevin Larsen (208-1993, college: GWU) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for Alicante. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Zunder Palencia. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Real Betis. Alicante at the other side keeps the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. Palencia will play against league’s leader Burgos SP at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alicante will play against Gipuzkoa (#13) in San Sebastian and hopes to get back on the winning track.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Oviedo, where higher ranked Burgos T. (10-9) lost to fourteenth ranked Oviedo (7-12) in a road game 84-98 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Burgos T.. It was a great evening for Dan Duscak who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists. At the losing side Abdou Thiam responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oviedo moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Castello and Gipuzkoa. Loser Burgos T. dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Ourense. Oviedo will meet higher ranked Ourense (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Burgos T. will play against Menorca and hope to secure a win.

Alicante – Palencia 95-96

Everything could happen in Mahon at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Menorca and 13th ranked Castello had identical 7-11 record. This time Menorca used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Castellon 90-66 on Friday night. Menorca made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Serbian Marko Lukovic (206-1992) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Jalen Cone (180, college: California) helped adding 19 points. It was a great evening for Italian-Uruguayan guard Jayson Granger (191-1989) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 5 assists. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Estudiantes players scored in double figures.
