The Second Stage in NBBL just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game was played in Wuerzburg. Ulm faced Akademie. Guests from Ulm defeated host Akademie 85-78. Ulm looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Danish forward Frederik Erichsen (206-2006) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Jervis Scheffs (194-2007) chipped in 17 points. Forward Noah Wendland (192-2007) produced 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Akademie’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Ulm are looking forward to face Dresden on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Akademie will play against OrangeAcademy in Memmingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was between Metropol Ruhr and Duesseldorf where Metropol Ruhr rolled over Duesseldorf on the road with 19-point difference 93-74. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Damarae Osazuwa (190-2007) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. Gianluca Pavlidis contributed with 18 points for the winners. Forward Jonathan Askamp (200-2007) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for Duesseldorf. Duesseldorf’s coach tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Metropol Ruhr will play against Hagen Phoenix at home in the next round. Duesseldorf will play against Bremerhaven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Hagen supposed to be also quite interesting. Piraten played at the court of Hagen BBA. Piraten smashed Hagen BBA 78-55 on Sunday. Benjamin Jess stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners. At the losing side Luis Ohrmann responded with 20 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piraten will meet at home Sudhessen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hagen BBA will have a break next round.

Other games of round 1 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Hagen BBA was defeated by Braunschweig in a road game 78-67. Sudhessen smashed Bremerhaven at home 92-69. Hagen Phoenix lost to Hamburg on the opponent’s court 83-98. Bremerhaven unfortunately lost to Giessen in a home game 67-83.


Braunschweig – Hagen BBA 78-67

There was no surprise when Hagen BBA was defeated on the road by Braunschweig 78-67 on Sunday. Center Eliah Braun (204-2007) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and point guard Noe Bom (190-2006) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Cavit Guerbuezer (204-2007) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and guard Dusan Ilic (188-2008) scored 25 points. Hagen BBA’s coach let to play ten players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. Braunschweig will meet at home Giessen in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hagen BBA will have a break next round.

No shocking result in a game in Darmstad where Sudhessen smashed Eisbaeren Bremerhaven 92-69 on Sunday. Sudhessen outrebounded Bremerhaven 43-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. Sudhessen looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Forward Erik Neunhoeffer (200-2006) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Nicolas Deetjen (191-2007) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side guard Jonte Hessling (180-2006) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Greek forward Alexander Vourliotis (197-2006) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Rather expected game in Hamburg where Phoenix Juniors were defeated by Piraten 98-83 on Sunday. Hamburg dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Phoenix Juniors‘s 44. Hamburg outrebounded Hagen Phoenix 32-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Hamburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Hagen Phoenix‘s players. Guard Nelson Martin (189-2006) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and Tyrese Steinig chipped in 13 points. Five Piraten players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Phil Haertl (188-2007) responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds and guard Sotirios Zapsas (186-2008) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piraten will meet at home Sudhessen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
