American Ben Shungu (188-PG-1997) put on an amazing game in the last round for Fenerbahce Koleji Istanbul team and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents TBL Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 27-year old playmaker got a double-double of 29 points and 11 assists, while his team beat TED Ankara (#6, 12-10) 102-95. Fenerbahce maintains the 11th position in Turkish TBL. Fenerbahce 2 is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-11 record. In the team’s last game Shungu had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Fenerbahce‘s top player in his first season with the team. University of Vermont graduate has very impressive stats this year. Shungu is in league’s top in assists (9th best: 5.7apg) and averages solid 40.2% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young American guard Alonzo Verge Jr (190-G-1998, agency: Octagon Europe) of Balikesir Buyuksehir Belediyespor. Verge Jr impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 12 assists. Of course he led Balikesir BBS to another comfortable win outscoring Anka Spor (#18, 0-22) 119-75. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Balikesir BBS managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 14th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 9-13 record. Verge Jr is a newcomer at Balikesir BBS and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 27.0ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 6.2rpg and 10.1apg.
The third best performed player last round was Senegalese Abdoulaye Gueye (206-C-1994) of TED Kolejliler Ankara (#6). Gueye scored 29 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Gueye’s great performance the TED Ankara lost 95-102 to the lower-ranked Fenerbahce 2 (#11, 11-11). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing TED Ankara needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 10 lost games. Gueye has a great season in Turkey. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 9.8rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.6bpg and a FGP of 59.8%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
