Everything went according to plan when first ranked STB Le Havre (17-4) defeated at home one of their biggest challengers Orchesien BC (14-8) 94-88 on Tuesday. Le Havre outrebounded Orchies 35-24 including 22 on the defensive glass. Le Havre looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Point guard Steven Cayol (193-1997) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five STB Le Havre players scored in double figures. STB Le Havre’s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by Belgian Igor Mintogo (193-1999) did not help to save the game for Orchies.
