An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Saint Petersburg. First ranked TSU faced 3rd ranked Zenit-2. Guests from Revda (16-3) defeated host Zenit-2 (14-5) 86-71. TSU made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Zenit-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was swingman Ivan Evstigneev (194-1999, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who scored 18 points and 5 assists. Center Sergey Klyuev (207-1998) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Pavel Zemskiy (203-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Zenit-2’s coach Oliver Popovic rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. TSU have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-3 record. Zenit-2 at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Dinamo. Newly promoted Dinamo maintains sixteenth position with 4-15 record. Kupol-Rodniki at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. We should mention about the upset which took place in Surgut, where higher ranked Barnaul (9-10) lost to fourteenth ranked Univ.Surgut (7-12) in a road game 83-94 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Barnaul. Worth to mention a great performance of Kirill Budin who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 assists. Branislav Suznjev responded with 12 points and 5 assists. Barnaul’s coach Alexander Gerasimov tested twelve players in this game, but that didn’t help. Univ.Surgut moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Barnaul keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Irkut and Chelbasket. Univ.Surgut will meet at home higher ranked Novosybirsk (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Barnaul will play against Khimki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Tambov – Chelbasket 63-79
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Tambov (5-14) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Chelbasket (9-10) 79-63 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban forward Darol Hernandez-Zinenko (207-1989) who helped to win the game recording 6 points and 12 rebounds and forward Alexandr Lavnikov (205-1991) who added 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Belarusian power forward Denis Vikentsyev (207-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Filipp Stoyko (200-1998) scored 16 points. Four Tambov players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Chelbasket moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Irkut and Barnaul. Tambov lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Chelbasket will meet league’s second-placed CSKA-2 in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
