Esenler Erokspor Istanbul (TBL) agreed terms with experienced 36-year old Bosnian-Bosnia and Herzegovina ex-international guard John Roberson (180cm-76kg-1988, college: Texas Tech). Roberson started the season at Al Ahly Cairo in Egyptian Superleague.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014. Roberson was a member of Bosnia and Herzegovina Senior National Team between 2020 and 2023.
He is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in twelve different countries. Roberson tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America, Australia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Phoenix), France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket, SIG Strasbourg and Chalon/Saor), Hungary (Atomeromu), Russia (Enisey), Slovenia, Spain (Estudiantes), Sweden (Sodertalje), Switzerland (Monthey-Chablais), Turkey (Galatasaray and Manisa), ABA (S.Carolina W.), Ecuador (ComuniKT) and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete, Matadors and Air Raiders). Roberson is close to retirement age as a player. It’s very possible he may end his playing career at Erokspor.
He graduated from Texas Tech University in 2011 and it is his 14th (!!!) season as a professional player.
