The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Levice (18-5) in Nova Ves on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by sixth ranked Spisski Rytieri (12-9) 84-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Levice. It was a good game for American point guard Dwayne Cohill (188-2000, college: YSU) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 7 assists. Latvian center Ilja Gromovs (211-1994) contributed with 10 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American point guard DMitrik Trice (183-1996, college: Wisconsin) replied with 20 points and 6 assists for Levice. Spisski Rytieri maintains sixth position with 12-9 record. Defending champion Levice still keeps top place with five games lost. Spisski Rytieri are looking forward to face higher ranked Handlova (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Levice will play against NEXTGEN and is hoping to win this game.
Fourth-ranked Prievidza (14-10) was very close to win a game against first ranked Levice (18-5). Levice managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Boris Bojanovsky (217-1993, college: FSU) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Felix Terins who added 24 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard CJ Jackson (185-1996, college: Ohio St.) with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-5 record. Prievidza at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Levice will play against bottom-ranked NEXTGEN (#10) in Nitra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Prievidza will play on the road against Komarno (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Inter Bratislava (15-8) which hosted in Bratislava second-best Handlova (15-8). Third ranked Inter Bratislava had an easy win 102-83. The winners were led by Dontay Caruthers who had that evening a double-double by scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Even 24 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Tavis Smith did not help to save the game for Handlova. Inter Bratislava moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Handlova. Inter Bratislava will meet Iskra Svit (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Handlova will play against Spisski Rytieri (#6) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: Lucenec was smashed by Prievidza on the road 113-64. Blue Wings destroyed Iskra Svit on its own court 97-78. Komarno outscored NEXTGEN in a road game 95-71.


Prievidza – Lucenec 113-64

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Prievidza (14-10) crushed at home 8th ranked Lucenec (8-15) 113-64 on Saturday. Prievidza dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Lucenec‘s 32. They outrebounded Lucenec 44-31 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Prievidza shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lucenec‘s players. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by guard Daishon Smith (185-1995, college: ULM) who scored that evening 25 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Marc Loving (203-1994, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Even 19 points and 7 rebounds by forward Jalen Johnson (203-2001, college: GSU) did not help to save the game for Lucenec. Guard Kevin Anderson (196-1998, college: Delaware) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Five Prievidza and four Lucenec players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Prievidza maintains fourth position with 14-10 record. Loser Lucenec keeps the eighth place with 15 games lost. Prievidza will meet Komarno (#7) on the road in the next round. Lucenec will play against Blue Wings and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Iskra Svit (7-15) was smashed by fifth ranked Blue Wings (13-9) in Nitra 97-78 on Saturday. Blue Wings looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Kobe Langley (185-2000, college: UNCG) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 assists and the former international center Michal Fusek (223-1995, agency: 011 Sports) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Blue Wings’ coach Krunoslav Krajnovic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 24 points by American guard Tedrick Wilcox (198, college: Hampton) did not help to save the game for Iskra Svit. His fellow American import guard Xavier Bledson (198-1999, college: Indiana St.) added 14 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). NEXTGEN – Komarno 71-95

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Komarno (10-12) rolled over bottom-ranked NEXTGEN (0-21) in Nitra 95-71 on Saturday. Komarno made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game, while NEXTGEN only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded NEXTGEN 40-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Brandon Rush (190, college: YSU) who scored that evening 28 points and Serbian guard Marko Lukic (201-1999, college: Denver) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Four Komarno players scored in double figures. Even 24 points by Lubomir Urban (193-2005) did not help to save the game for NEXTGEN. Point guard Bruno Randuska (191-2008) added 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Komarno maintains seventh position with 10-12 record. Loser NEXTGEN still closes the standings. Komarno will meet at home higher ranked Prievidza (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. NEXTGEN will play against the league’s leader Levice (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
