Yukatel Merkezefendi Belediyesi Basket Denizli (BSL) agreed terms with 27-year old American guard Malik Newman (190cm-86kg-1997, college: Kansas, agency: Slash Sports). Newman started the season at Gevi Napoli Basket in Italian Serie A. In 5 games he had 5.0ppg and 1.0apg.
He is quite experienced player. Newman’s career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in seven different countries. Newman tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Golden Bulls and Jilin Tigers), Israel (Ironi Nahariya), Russia (Avtodor), NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers), NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce and Cleveland Charge), Turkey (Bursaspor) and NBA Summer League (Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz Blue).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his college team won Big 12 Tournament in 2018. Newman was voted to VTB United League All-Star Game in 2023.
He graduated from University of Kansas in 2018 and it is his seventh season as a professional player. Newman played also for Mississippi State University for one year.
