Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Zornotza (4-10) was defeated on the road by third ranked Huelva CD (9-5) 97-82 on Saturday. Huelva CD dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Zornotza‘s 40. They outrebounded Zornotza 32-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Senegalese center Pa Mor Diene (208-1998) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Michael Mays (178-1999, college: King) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Five Huelva CD players scored in double figures. Center Carlos Taboada (215-2003) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Oier Ardanza (194-2001) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Huelva CD maintains third position with 9-5 record having just two points less than leader Palma BM, which they share with Palma Fibwi. Zornotza lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Algeciras. Huelva CD will meet league’s second-placed Iraurgi SB in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zornotza will play against Clavijo (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
