The most shocking disappointment of round 17 in the National League was a home defeat of 4th placed E.Yavne (8-7) to seventh ranked H.Eilat (9-6) 94-86. Hapoel Eilat forced 21 E.Yavne turnovers and outrebounded them 52-39 including 19 on the offensive glass. The former international Golan Gutt (195-1994) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Tomer Porat (201-1999) chipped in 14 points and 15 rebounds. H.Eilat have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with M.Rishon and I.Nahariya. E.Yavne lost third consecutive game. M.Rishon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with I.Nahariya and H.Eilat. E.Ashkelon at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with E.Yavne. M.Rishon will play against higher ranked M.Rehovot (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ramat Hash. will play against H.Safed Galil and hope to secure a win.
